Microneedling Q & A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a noninvasive aesthetic treatment available at Medrein Health & Aesthetics. During the procedure, our aesthetician uses advanced microneedling technology to make microwounds in targeted tissues to stimulate collagen and elastin production naturally.

She may apply platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) to the skin or your scalp with microneedling. Doing so produces younger-looking skin or a fuller head of hair. Dr. Mikki tailors each microneedling treatment to match your beauty goals.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

The main benefits of microneedling at Medrein Health & Aesthetics include:

  • Younger-looking appearance
  • Revitalized skin
  • New skin cell growth
  • Reduced scarring
  • Smaller pores
  • Smoother, tighter skin
  • Improved skin texture
  • Reduced lines and wrinkles
  • Flawless skin
  • Reduced acne
  • Diminished stretch marks
  • Fewer dark spots
  • Tighter skin
  • Fuller, thicker hair

Microneedling makes tiny punctures in targeted tissues to stimulate your body’s natural ability to generate new cells without invasive procedures.

Is microneedling the right treatment for me?

Anyone who struggles with unwelcome signs of aging benefits from microneedling at Medrein Health & Aesthetics. Before customizing an aesthetic treatment, Dr. Mikki examines your skin, reviews your medical history, and discusses your lifestyle habits and cosmetic goals. She may combine more than one type of cosmetic treatment to ensure a superior outcome.

What should I expect during the procedure?

During microneedling at Medrein Health & Aesthetics, our aesthetician first numbs the treatment area. Doing so ensures you don’t feel any discomfort during the procedure. If you plan to receive PRP or PRF during microneedling, Dr. Mikki takes a sample of blood from one of your veins and spins it in a centrifuge to extract PRP or PRF from the rest of your blood.

Our aesthetician uses a special device containing needles to make tiny microwounds in your skin or scalp to stimulate healing and new cell growth. She may apply PRP or PRF to treated skin to further enhance new cell generation. Each treatment might last 30-60 minutes, but every patient is different.

What happens after microneedling treatments?

Within a few days or weeks, you can expect visible results associated with microneedling. The full effects often appear after 4-6 weeks. Repeat microneedling treatments every few months or so offer long-lasting revitalizing results.

PRP Microneedling Q & A

What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP) microneedling?

Microneedling is an aesthetic treatment that uses a sterile device covered in needles to create thousands of tiny punctures on the surface of your skin. Your body perceives each of these channels as a micro-injury, and launches a powerful healing reaction.

New collagen cells replace lost facial volume, plumping and smoothing your skin. Scar tissue breaks down, and areas of abnormal pigmentation clear up.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a solution made from a small sample of your own blood. The solution contains a high volume of platelets, a component of your blood rich in growth factors. PRP boosts your natural healing powers, helping your skin recover from microneedling swiftly.

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is created in a similar way, but spinning the blood at a lower rate of speed allows more of the stem cells, white blood cells, and fibrin to remain. PRF releases growth factors longer than PRP, and is a better fit for certain needs.

What kinds of skin issues can PRP microneedling address?

PRP microneedling can address a number of different skin issues at once, making it a great value for your investment.

Some of the skin issues PRP microneedling can improve include:

  • Acne scarring
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sun damage
  • Surgical scars
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Wrinkles and fine lines

During your initial consultation, Dr. Mikki examines your skin and helps you decide which treatments are the best fit for your needs and goals.

How does PRP microneedling work?

The first step in PRP microneedling is a quick blood draw, similar to the process of having blood taken for lab testing. Dr. Mikki places that sample into a device called a centrifuge that spins it at a high rate of speed.

This separates the liquid and solid components, making removing the platelets easier and reintroducing them into the now-cleared plasma. The resulting PRP is then ready to use.

A special numbing cream reduces sensations in the treatment area. Dr. Mikki moves the microneedling device across the surface of your skin, creating small punctures. It’s possible to incorporate PRP into the process via a series of shallow injections in the skin or by spreading the solution across the surface of the treatment area.
