Getting ready for Non Surgical Face Lift:
Start first by choosing a good medspa by scheduling a consultation with a doctor. Be sure the doctor is board certified with lots of experience, and has performed several of these procedures. Be cautious about spas, salons or other nonmedical facilities that allow nonmedical personnel to perform PDO threads.
During your consultation your doctor will go over in great detail of:
-Medical history/ Surgical History/ Allergies/ Current Medication use.
-Discuss risk/ benefits/ other options if lasers aren’t for you.
-Go over costs/ number of sessions needed.
-Go over procedure/ social downtime/ pre and post instructions.
-Get consent forms/ pictures as needed.
Types of PDO’s:
1. Barbs/ Lifting threads.
2. Mono threads/ Sugar Threads/ Collagen threads.
Barbs/ Lifting threads:
-Mainly used where skin needs to be lifted.
-These are generally blunt tip cannulas. Hence there is no damage to the nerves/ blood vessels. So has minimal to no bruising.
-Placed deeper tissue.
-Comes in different thickness and sizes.
Procedure: Your provider would have evaluated during your initial consultation for the need of anxiolytics and prescribed Xanax prior to help with the procedure.
On the day of treatment after consent forms and pictures are taken your provider will reassess your skin. Then the area is cleaned thoroughly, your skin will be measured/ marked for placing the appropriate size threads. Lidocaine is used to numb the insertion point, then a sharp needle is used to create an entry for the blunt cannula. Then threads are placed deep in the tissue in the desired sites and barbs hold on to the tissue to create lift. Provider will then massage over the threads so the barbs engage within the tissue
For facelifts Lidocaine is used to do dental blocks to make the procedure more tolerable. There is also an option for Pronox/ Laughing gas which helps to tolerate procedure.
Mono threads/ Sugar Threads/ Collagen threads:
-Mainly used when trying to achieve skin tightness by stimulating collagen production.
-These threads come in sharp needles, hence will cause bruising
-Are placed more superficially
-These come in different sizes/ shapes.
Procedure: After consent forms and pictures are taken you will be taken to the procedure room where topical anesthetic is applied and left for around 30 mins. Then skin is cleansed thoroughly and Mono/ sugar threads are placed carefully few mm apart to areas of concern.
Results will be noticeable after a few weeks, as these threads work by collagen production.
