There are several reasons, or contraindications, that may prevent you from receiving a Revanesse® Versa™+ or Revanesse® Lips™+ injection. These include:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding, as the safety of these products during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been studied.
- A history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation.
- Evidence of scars at the intended treatment sites.
- Skin conditions like acne, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, or other inflammatory skin diseases at or near the injection sites.
- Allergic history, including severe allergic reactions, heightened immune responses to common allergens, allergies to hyaluronic acid products, lidocaine, Streptococcal proteins, or plans for allergen desensitization therapy during treatment with Revanesse®.
- Acute or chronic skin diseases, infections, or unhealed wounds on the face.
- Concomitant use of anticoagulant therapy, antiplatelet therapy, or a history of bleeding disorders, clotting disorders like hemophilia, or connective tissue disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus.
- If you are under the age of 22, you should not receive treatment with a Revanesse® dermal filler.
- It is not recommended to combine Revanesse® dermal fillers with laser treatments, intense pulsed light therapy, chemical peels, dermabrasion, or with over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription wrinkle products within 4 weeks prior to treatment, as it may increase the risk of inflammation or infection at the treatment site.
What Are the Associated Risks?
There are certain risks associated with Revanesse® Versa™+ and Revanesse® Lips™+ injections, including:
Common side effects include bleeding, bruising, swelling, and pain.
Less common but possible risks such as acne-like skin eruptions, skin sensitivity (rash, itching, tenderness), skin infection, nerve or blood vessel damage, skin lumpiness, scarring, skin necrosis, hyperpigmentation, and reactivation of herpes infection (blisters or skin sores).

Warning: One of the potential risks of dermal filler injections, including those with Revanesse® products, is unintentional injection into a blood vessel. These complications, which have been reported with facial injectable fillers, can lead to vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or permanent scarring of the skin.
